Child Welfare and Attendance

The attendance zone policy of the Acadia Parish School Board requires students to attend school in their residential zone.  Only in extreme cases (i.e. documented physical, psychological or family problems) will hardships be approved.  Permission may be denied or revoked due to overcrowding or capacity.  If a serious attendance or discipline problem exists during the hardship, this may be reason for the student to return to his/her home school zone.  If approved, transportation must be provided by the parent.

Please note the following Acadia Parish schools have reached limits in capacity for the 2025-2026 school year:

Branch Elementary School

Iota Elementary School

Iota Middle School

Iota High School

Mire Elementary School

Richard Elementary School

All Hardship Transfer Requests must be completed by March 31, 2026.  Submissions beyond this date will not be accepted.
